KUANTAN: Pahang police are set to dispose of various narcotics with an estimated street value of over RM519,000, seized from across the state since 2011.
The operation involves 2,656 items covering 15 types of drugs and will be conducted by a licensed contractor at Bukit Tagar, Bestari Jaya, Selangor.
Pahang police chief Comm Datuk Seri Comm Yahaya Othman said that among the drugs to be destroyed are 3.35kg of heroin, 1.70kg of methamphetamine, 727.23g of cannabis, 71.12g of ketamine, 72.56g of nimetazepam, 200.1g of yaba and 171.9g of ecstasy.
“The disposal follows court orders after the conclusion of legal proceedings and the expiration of appeal periods for the convicted offenders,” he said during a press conference at the state police headquarters here on Monday (Sept 8).
From January to August this year, Comm Yahaya said the state Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department made 9,365 arrests in 8,252 cases.
A total of 144 operations have been carried out to dismantle drug distribution networks across the state, he added.
Also present was Naza B Eco Services Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Azmanuddin Haq Ahmad, whose company ensured a secure and environmentally responsible approach in disposing of the narcotics waste, in partnership with the Pahang police.
“Naza B Eco Services is actively engaging with government agencies and the private sector to promote its comprehensive waste management solutions and support environmental protection efforts,” said Azmanuddin.
