KUALA LUMPUR: More than 9,000 police personnel and officers will be deployed to ensure a smooth Sabah state election, especially during the monsoon season, says Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail.

The Inspector-General of Police said preparations are well underway for the state election, with nomination day set for Nov 15.

“In anticipation of the Northeast Monsoon season, preparations are also being intensified to ensure operations continue smoothly in the event of heavy rain or storms.

“The highest level of security measures will be in place throughout the state to maintain order and safety during the election period,” he told reporters after attending the “Selawat dan Munajat Perdana” event organised by KL police at Masjid Al-Sultan Abdullah on Friday (Nov 7).

On the event, the IGP said the police emphasised the importance of religious programmes for its personnel and officers.

“Such programmes are viewed as crucial in balancing worldly duties with spiritual responsibilities.

“They aim to strengthen officers both physically and mentally, while nurturing discipline, integrity, and a sound understanding of moral and religious principles,” he added.

He also commended the KL police, led by its chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus, for organising such initiatives.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail was also among those who attended the event.
