Over 2,000 Paya Rumput Constituents Help Enliven National Day, Malaysia Day Celebrations


MELAKA, Sept 7 (Bernama) — Over 2,000 residents turned up to enliven the Paya Rumput state constituency’s 2025 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations at the Hang Jebat Stadium grounds in Krubong here today.

Paya Rumput assemblyman Datuk Rais Yasin said the inaugural programme was held to enliven the national month celebrations, with people of different races and age groups taking part in interesting events.

“This proves the spirit of unity that exists among the people in the Paya Rumput constituency, who do not want to be left behind in enlivening this year’s National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.

“Our objectives are to ensure the spirit of love for the country continues to burn brightly in the hearts of the people, besides instilling a feeling of gratitude and pride at being Malaysians. We intend to continue holding such celebrations in the coming years,” he told reporters here today.

Of the various events held, 1,300 people took part in the Family Fun Run and 140 participated in the checkers competition, while 24 teams battled it out in the traditional game of “konda kondi”.

That’s not all, as 350 people also took part in the fancy costume and colouring competitions, besides a patriotic song singing competition involving participants of various ages.

Various handsome prizes, including a motorcycle and electrical items, were also up for grabs for lucky visitors, while 500 free T-shirts were given away to those who arrived earliest for the Family Fun Run.

The event also received the cooperation of the Information Department (JAPEN), Youth and Sports Department, Community Development Department (Kemas) and the Department of National Unity and National Integration (JPNIN).
