KUALA LUMPUR: The third day of the implementation of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) and the rollout of its monthly credit saw the highest number of successful transactions so far, with over 1.1 million transactions recorded on Sept 2.

The Finance Ministry said these transactions amounted to RM75.3 million as of 10.30pm, compared with RM50 million on Aug 31.

“The successful transaction rate also increased to 95 per cent today, compared with 79 per cent on Aug 31,” it said in a statement.

In total, over 2.9 million Malaysians used their Sara aid and credit over the three-day period, with spending nationwide reaching RM192.4 million.

The sharp increase in transactions since Aug 31 caused MyKasih’s system traffic to spike, hitting over 2,000 approved transactions per minute, compared with the previous record of around 540 transactions per minute in April.

“This marks a nearly fourfold increase compared with previous peak capacity,” the ministry said.

To enhance system performance, processing capacity has been increased from 5,000 to 15,000 queries per minute.

A single transaction typically involves multiple system requests, including MyKad scanning, item reading and final verification.

“This upgrade is expected to speed up transaction processes and improve user convenience,” it added.

The ministry also thanked recipients for their positive response, adding that feedback from the public would remain a key reference in improving the system to make it more efficient and user-friendly.

The one-off RM100 Sara credit will remain valid until Dec 31.
