Oppo has launched its latest A6 Pro 5G smartphone with a massive 6,500mAh battery capacity.

Tests performed by the company suggested that the battery could retain over 80% of its original capacity after about 1,830 charging cycles or than five years of typical use.

It also comes with 80w SuperVooc or fast-charging feature, promising that the device can be charged to 100% in just 50 minutes.

The company also touted the use of AGC DT-Star D+ Crystal Shield Glass for the exterior to protect against scratches and impacts, along with an AM04 high-strength aluminium alloy it said has been tested to withstand up to 1,000 bends.

It claimed that the device has been certified with Military-Grade Shock Resistance.

At the launch event in today (Sept 24), the company demonstrated the phone’s durability by placing it under the centre of a wooden plank while two Malaysian firemen, with a combined weight of around 180kg, stepped and jumped on either end.

The emcee then pulled the phone out from beneath the plank to show that it was still functioning.

Other features include a dual rear camera setup with a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor, along with support for underwater video recording. On the front, the device is equipped with a 16-megapixel selfie camera.

It measures 8mm thick with a 93% screen-to-body ratio, an AMOLED display, and an AI LinkBoost 3.0 feature that the company claimed can detect and prioritise online gaming traffic to reduce latency on weak or congested networks.
