SHAH ALAM, Oct 23 — The Selangor government has stressed that any demolition work in Kampung Jalan Papan, Pandamaran, Klang, should be limited to vacant houses and business premises.
State Housing and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said this was in line with the directives and the solution agreed upon during negotiations with all stakeholders, chaired by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari on Tuesday.
“Collaboration with all relevant agencies would continue to ensure the process is carried out in stages, without sidelining humanitarian concerns or the interests of state development,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Borhan assured that the state government would continuously monitor the demolition work through follow-up meetings to ensure full compliance with all decisions and to protect the welfare of residents affected.
He said the move aims to ensure that every action is implemented transparently, systematically, and in accordance with the law.
“The Selangor government is committed to ensuring that any matters relating to settlement and development are carried out prudently, in an orderly manner, and with due regard for the people’s interests and sustainable urban planning,” he said.
Borhan said the Selangor government also took note of this morning’s peaceful demonstration by residents’ representatives in front of the Selangor State Secretary (SUK) Building, which brought attention to the issue and submitted a memorandum for thorough government review. — Bernama
