
KUALA LUMPUR: A nurse pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here on Thursday (Nov 6) to a charge of causing serious injury to her neighbour, resulting in a fractured wrist for the victim in May.
Chan Siew Peng, 51, was charged with committing the act against housewife Lim Siew Woi, 55, by repeatedly pushing the victim’s grille door, causing a fracture to the victim’s right wrist at a condominium unit in Taman Bukit Indah here on May 15 at 3.30pm.
The charge was brought under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum sentence of seven years in prison and a fine, if convicted.
It is understood that the incident occurred because the victim is believed to have been making noise, causing the accused to go to the victim’s home.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Noor Syafina Mohd Radzuan offered bail of RM10,000 with one surety.
Chan, who was not represented by a lawyer, appealed for a reduced bail, citing that she is a single mother and has a 15-year-old son in school.
Judge Mazuliana Abdul Rashid allowed the accused to be released on RM5,000 bail with one surety and set Dec 10 for the case mention for appointment of a lawyer. – Bernama
