#NSTviral: Tiger tracks? Viral video shows mystery paw prints near IIUM Gombak [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A video capturing a man stumbling upon what he believes to be tiger paw prints in a densely wooded area behind the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) campus in Gombak has gone viral on social media.

The minute-long clip, uploaded by TikTok user @yusofyaacob847, shows the man walking along a secluded jungle trail when he suddenly spots several large paw prints in the muddy ground.

In the video, he is heard remarking that the prints “look quite fresh and new” as he kneels to examine them, even comparing his hand to the marks left by the animal.

Moments later, he glances around nervously while reciting a brief prayer verse before breaking into a run. The camera shakes wildly and the video ends abruptly as his phone falls to the ground.

In a follow-up comment, Yusof said that he ran after hearing movement in the nearby bushes, adding that he “was not waiting around to find out what it was.”

The video has attracted thousands of views and over 200 comments, with netizens reacting with a mix of shock, humour, and disbelief.

One commenter suggested the prints might be from the tiger reportedly sighted at Ukay Perdana last week, while another noted that IIUM and Ukay Perdana were not far apart.

Others cautioned against venturing alone into the jungle, with one user commenting, “Don’t play around in the jungle alone, bro. Those prints look real.”

As of today, authorities have yet to confirm whether the paw prints are indeed from a tiger. However, wildlife sightings in forested areas around Gombak and nearby Hulu Kelang have been reported previously.
