#NSTviral: Man high on drugs smashes ATMs, damages car in Pasir Gudang

PASIR GUDANG: A drug-intoxicated man armed with a hoe was arrested after smashing automated teller machines and cash deposit machines at a bank in Taman Bukit Dahlia here yesterday (Sept 16).

The 7.46am incident was captured in a 15-second video clip that went viral on TikTok.

Seri Alam police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sohaimi Ishak, said a 54-year-old man was arrested the same day, and officers seized a hoe believed to have been used in the rampage. They also recovered 0.9 grammes of syabu.

“The suspect was allegedly high on drugs when he went on a rampage, smashing the ATMs and CDMs. A car parked in front of the bank was also damaged.

“Checks revealed the suspect had six previous records involving crime and drugs. A urine test returned positive for methamphetamine,” Sohaimi said in a statement today.

The man has been remanded for three days until Sept 19.

Police are investigating the case under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief, Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession, and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act for drug consumption.
