ISKANDAR PUTERI: A police investigation into an alleged child neglect case at a daycare centre here has been classified as no further action (NFA), after authorities found no strong evidence to prosecute any party.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said a police report was lodged on Jan 19 by a 27-year-old local woman, the mother of a one-year-old boy.
“The investigation was carried out by Iskandar Puteri police district headquarters under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which covers neglect of children under the care of a nursery,” he said in a statement on Wednesday(Aug 6).
He added that the findings of the investigation were referred to the Johor Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office, which issued instructions to classify the case as NFA.
“The instruction was issued as there was no strong evidence to link any party to the alleged offence,” he said.
Earlier, a post by the victim’s mother had gone viral on social media, expressing suspicion over injuries sustained by her 14-month-old son in an incident that occurred earlier this year.
In the post, the woman claimed that there were bruises and red marks on her child’s back after she picked him up from the centre on Jan 17.
The woman claimed that she was informed only on Tuesday (Aug 5) that the case had been classified as NFA, and was disappointed with outcome of her eight-month wait.
