PUTRAJAYA, Oct 17 — The Cabinet today proposed three immediate measures to address safety issues in schools, including rising cases of bullying and crime, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said the measures include enhancing safety monitoring in schools, banning the use of smartphones for students aged 16 and below, and improving education content to emphasise moral and ethical values, Berita Harian reported.
“The Cabinet meeting today spent a considerable amount of time discussing education issues and student discipline problems that are worrying parents and the public,” Anwar was quoted as saying.
The PM was speaking to reporters after performing Friday prayers at Surau Jannatul Firdaus, PPAM Seruling in Precinct 5 here today.
He added that while the matter requires careful consideration, certain steps can be implemented without delay.
