PETALING JAYA:

Bersatu vice-president Ronald Kiandee has no issues with potentially being at the helm of Perikatan Nasional, citing his past experience working with the party in the Cabinet.

Kiandee, a former agriculture minister, also said no one had thought he would be able to Sabah PN, Utusan Malaysia reported.

“I have no issues with . We used to be in the Cabinet together.

“Sometimes, one’s leadership quality will only shine when given the opportunity to hold a post. That is where they can prove their true value and capability.

“Therefore, I am confident that everyone here (in PN, including PAS,) is qualified and capable of leading (the coalition) based on their respective experiences,” he was quoted as saying.

The six-term Beluran MP reiterated, however, that PAS’s intention to lead PN must be discussed by the coalition’s Supreme Council.

At its muktamar the past week, PAS delegates unanimously approved a resolution for the party to lead PN in the next general election (GE16).

Kiandee played this down, saying it was normal for parties to approve such resolutions at their annual assemblies.

“The same goes for Bersatu, we discussed and approved various motions at our recent annual general assembly. Each party can chart their aspirations and intentions through their respective general assemblies,” he said.

He maintained that, at the end of the day, the PN Supreme Council would have the final say after leaders reached a consensus.
