There are no challengers for the post of PKR president, with a total of 251 candidates nominated for other positions, says the party’s central election committee chairman, Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
This means that Anwar Ibrahim, who has been party president since 2018, is all set to retain the post for the 2025-2028 term.
Zaliha said the youth chief’s post, currently held by Adam Adli, is also not being challenged.
In a statement this morning, she said 104 candidates are in the running for positions in the central leadership committee, 85 in the youth committee, and 62 in the Wanita PKR committee.
“This encouraging participation proves PKR is not short of new talent, and further strengthens the party’s position as a platform for struggle that always provides space for new figures to uphold the party’s internal democracy,” she said.
Zaliha said there will be an objection period on May 11 and 12, and appeals for said objections on May 13 and 14.
“The final list of candidates will be confirmed on May 15. Official campaigning will begin immediately after and end on May 22 at 11.59pm,” she said.
