PETALING JAYA:

vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has confirmed sending a protest letter to the party’s central election committee on several issues related to the Setiawangsa divisional election results.

“There is also a central leadership council meeting today, so we will just wait for the decision they will announce,” Bernama quoted him as saying in Hulu today.

In the April 19 election, the Setiawangsa MP failed to defend the division chief’s post after losing to actor and film director Afdlin Shauki, securing 563 votes against Afdlin’s 631.

Nik Nazmi was previously reported as saying he would file an appeal on the matter through the party’s channels to raise several “issues” that had surfaced during the divisional election.

“This is part of our commitment to ensuring that the party election is carried out with integrity and fairness,” he said.

Yesterday, election committee chairman Dr Zaliha Mustafa said updates on the protests involving the elections of several divisions would be announced next week.
