KUALA LUMPUR: Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said he is ready to apologise and retract his comment about “calling a reporter’s superior” if it had caused offence to the media.
During a press conference this afternoon, he said that those who have known him for nearly 30 years would understand that he has always respected media freedom and freedom of speech, China Press reported.
If anyone felt offended by his words, he is willing to apologise and withdraw them, he added.
“We should move forward together to continue upholding the nation’s dignity and status, and focus our efforts on nation-building,” he said.
On Friday, several media rights organisations took the minister to task for allegedly reprimanding and intimidating a journalist at a recent press conference.
