KUALA LUMPUR: The government will improve basic infrastructure and stimulate the economy in rural areas and development zones under the 13th Malaysia Plan.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also said strategic investments in these areas would be encouraged.
He said the government was committed to narrowing development gaps between regions to ensure that rural communities benefited equitably as the country developed.
“Large-scale infrastructure development also remains a priority to strengthen inter-regional connectivity and stimulate the growth of surrounding areas in a planned and structured manner,” he said when tabling the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).
“Among the projects being implemented is the construction of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL),” he said.
