KUALA LUMPUR: Rapper Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, will be remanded today.
Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam said the remand would take place at the district police headquarters.
Police had been tracking Wee after naming him a person of interest in the death of Taiwanese social media influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin, better known as Iris Hsieh.
In an Instagram post earlier, Namewee said he travelled from Johor Baru to Kuala Lumpur for a scheduled appointment with the police.
The 42-year-old was believed to have gone into hiding after Hsieh’s death was reclassified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
City police have named Namewee as a person of interest in the investigation into the influencer’s murder.
