JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 10 — The new National Integrated Immigration System (MyNIISe) application will now be expanded to motorcycle lanes at the two land border crossings in Johor starting October 15.

The QR code-based system, which was previously only available for passenger cars, will soon be available for motorcyclists at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) here and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) in Gelang Patah, Iskandar Puteri.

Johor Public Works, Transport and Infrastructure and Communications Committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh said the availability of the MyNIISe application for motorcycles will better facilitate faster and more efficient immigration processing for motorcyclists.

“A total of seven exit lanes at BSI, namely B1–B7, are specifically provided for motorcycle users using the MyNIISe application.

“At KSAB, there will be eight motorcycle lanes involving four entry lanes (B21–B24) which are equipped with a MyNIISe QR code scanning system,” he said in a statement today.

Mohamad Fazli was updating the public on the MyNIISe application that will soon be available for motorcycles.

He explained that motorcyclists will soon enjoy easier immigration entry with two options for the same functional system, namely MyNIISe and MyBoarderPass.

Mohamad Fazli said the digital transformation is to ensure that the border crossing process is efficient, safe and user-friendly.

He urged motorists to download and register for MyNIISe on their respective mobile phones.

Johor’s two land checkpoints are considered among the busiest land border crossings in the world as more than 350,000 people, many of whom are Malaysians, cross the Causeway and Second Link Crossing on a daily basis for employment.

Motorcycles make up a bulk of those exiting and re-entering Malaysia daily.

Since September 23, it was reported that thousands of drivers have started using the MyNIISe application for passenger cars at Johor’s two land border crossings with Singapore.

At its trial launch, the MyNIISe application was only limited to passenger cars. It was open not only for Malaysians and Singaporeans, but also to foreign nationals.

The trial has also expanded in stages to five international airports:  Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminals 1 and 2), Penang International Airport, Kuching International Airport and Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

Travellers from 63 countries may use the QR code to enter Malaysia, while citizens of 71 countries can use it for departure.
