KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Yassin and RSN Rayer have had an exchange of words in Parliament over the stability of the Perikatan Nasional-ruled Perlis administration.

Rayer (PH-Jelutong) had interjected with a question about the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) while (PN-Pagoh) was debating the motion of thanks on the Royal Address.

“Do you agree that the country will be able to overcome any possible challenges due to the stability in the current government as opposed to a situation of political instability like in Perlis?” he asked, adding that despite being a small state, infighting between and Bersatu had brought down the state government.

Questioning the intent behind the question, said the issue in Perlis had been resolved.

Rayer then claimed the country would be in shambles if Perikatan came to power.

Muhyiddin had raised concerns over the ART with the United States.

“Even after over 60 years of independence, we are facing an extraordinary situation where our country’s rights and sovereignty may be affected by the complacency and negligence of the current government when negotiating such an important issue,” said the former prime minister.

“I was told that Malaysia had a different deal compared to the agreements the United States had with other countries. Why was ours different? Was it due to a lack of expertise by the negotiating minister or was it because we were not paying attention which led to such a problem,” he said.

Muhyiddin said the agreement should be brought to Parliament and the issues must be rectified before it is implemented.
