PETALING JAYA: Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has pledged that the party will stand united and ensure no biased action is taken against any member.
He acknowledged that the issues surrounding the party had grown more serious than initially perceived, but gave his assurances that concrete measures were being taken to resolve them.
“We will stand together to ensure no action is taken against anyone, nor will anyone side with another.
“We are aware of what has happened, and it must stop. Nothing further should be raised.
“Today, we have taken the necessary steps to address the matter,” he told reporters after chairing a party supreme council meeting tonight.
This comes after suspended Bersatu supreme council member Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal suggested that delays in appointing the appeals board members were deliberate, to keep the disciplined members in limbo.
In a statement after the meeting, party secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said five people had been selected to sit at the party’s appeal’s board.
Tan Sri Azhar Azizan @ Harun will chair the board comprising of Datuk Seri Zulkifli Noordin, Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof, Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad and Datuk Fahimee Ismail.
Azmin said the party must stay united especially to face the upcoming Sabah General Election where the party will contest in all seats.
Muhyiddin will head to Sabah on Nov 7 to launch the party’s machinery and announce the candidates on Nov 11.
Wan Fayhsal previously alleged that the party’s disciplinary board was biased and that opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin was the target of disciplinary hearings.
Hamzah was one of the members present during the supreme council meeting.
On Oct 14, the party’s disciplinary board announced that Wan Fayhsal was suspended, while Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan and four others have been sacked from the party.
