A netizen goes on a ‘free food’ spree at Mydin, sampling drinks, snacks, and desserts while shopping

A Malaysian netizen recently shared a clever way to turn supermarket visits into a “free lunch” adventure.

Nany Rahman posted a TikTok showing her trip to local supermarket chain Mydin, where she went shopping with her RM100 MySARA cash aid while sampling various food testers.

Her lunch began with a cup of banana milk, followed by Wagyu-flavoured noodles from promoters.

She then tried a small cup of fresh orange juice and a crispy potato chip snack. Not stopping there, she enjoyed a cup of hot teh tarik.

At another booth, she sampled potato chips again, this time with garlic dip.

Dessert came in the form of a chocolate ice-cream sample, followed by fried dumpling and crispy roti canai tasters.

She ended her spree with a blueberry yogurt sample. The video felt more like a food festival than a shopping vlog.

As of writing, the video has garnered over 1.6 million views, nearly 90,000 likes, and more than 2,000 comments.

Many viewers admitted feeling shy about trying samples, worrying they might be judged.

A promoter reassured the public: “We just want to finish the stock of tasters, especially near closing time. If people buy, great; if not, it’s okay, we’re not forcing anyone, guys.”

Impressed by the sheer variety of samples, the outlet’s official page commented asking which branch it was, joking they wanted to try everything.

Another user noted that tasting testers “always hits differently” compared to eating at home.

Earlier in February, Nany posted a similar video where she tried food samples for dinner at the same supermarket.
