A mother discovered her infant was fed while lying down at childcare, raising choking risks and sparking outrage online over unsafe practices.
A Malaysian mother recently raised concerns after alleging that her baby’s caretakers were feeding her in an unsafe manner.
Taking to Threads, she vented her frustrations, claiming that the caretakers were feeding her infant daughter while she was lying down.
The mother also alleged that the caretakers attempted to instruct her on what to feed her daughter.

“What is even more frustrating is that she is being fed while lying down. What if she chokes?” the woman wrote in her post.
According to screenshots attached to the post, the woman’s husband questioned why the caretaker had fed the child while she was lying down.
The caretaker replied to her husband, allegedly confirming that the baby would “mostly” be lying down while being fed, similar to nursing.
The same attachment also showed the caretaker suggesting that the woman feed her daughter puréed fruit first, even commenting on the texture of the food she had prepared for the baby.
Netizens were equally horrified and urged the woman to seek another caretaker, citing the unsafe feeding method, which could severely affect the baby’s well-being.
“The biggest red flag is when your childcare provider is not equipped with updated childcare knowledge. Everything they said is outdated and clearly wrong. Get your baby out as soon as possible,” one user warned.
“Get your child out of there! Feeding a baby while lying down is a no-no, as there is a high risk of choking,” another advised.
