Malaysia stands ready to engage Islamic world leaders through the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to strongly condemn Israel’s escalating violence and human rights violations, says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar said he would personally take the initiative to contact several key Muslim leaders, including the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“Israel’s conduct has gone far beyond the limits of decency,” Bernama reported him as saying after officiating the 9th International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities (ICOSH 2025) in Putrajaya today.
His remarks come in the wake of Israel’s latest airstrike in Doha, Qatar, which reportedly targeted a meeting of Hamas political leaders discussing a US-backed ceasefire proposal for Gaza.
The strike in the Leqtaifiya district reportedly involved about 15 Israeli fighter jets, and killed six individuals, including the son of senior Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, his office director, and a Qatari security officer.
Top Hamas leaders reportedly survived the attack.
In a statement today, Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said Perikatan Nasional strongly condemned “in the harshest terms” Israel’s heinous attack against Doha.
“This blatant act of aggression is not only an assault on the sovereignty of a peaceful nation, but also a direct violation of international law, the UN charter, and the basic norms of humanity.
“Israel’s reckless provocation threatens to destabilise the entire region, putting countless innocent lives at risk, and undermining ongoing efforts for peace and stability in the Middle East,” he said.
Wan Fayhsal and PN urged the government, Asean, the OIC, and the UN Security Council to take “immediate and decisive action to hold Israel accountable for its crimes”.
“Failure to act decisively will only embolden further acts of aggression and injustice.
“This attack is a deliberate action by Israel to sabotage all ongoing peace efforts and to ensure a ceasefire does not take place,” he said.
