KUCHING, Sept 20 — A motorcyclist was killed after a collision with a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) that lost control at Jalan Bau-Kuching yesterday afternoon.
Bau district police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahman said the incident occurred at KM16.5 Jalan Bau-Kuching and was reported at 4.23pm.
“It is believed the MPV, which was heading from Bau, lost control while ascending a corner and veered into the opposite lane before colliding with a motorcycle coming from Kuching,” he said in a statement today.
The impact threw the victim off his motorcycle. Paramedics later pronounced him dead at the scene. The MPV driver and passenger escaped unhurt.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Those who have any information on the incident may contact or approach the nearest police station, and the public was also advised not to speculate on the incident.
He urged members of the public with information on the crash to come forward and also reminded road users to exercise caution, particularly in uncertain weather conditions, and ensure their vehicles are in good condition before driving. — The Borneo Post
