GEORGE TOWN, Oct 29 — A foreign woman was killed, while her two-year-old daughter was seriously injured after they were hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) while crossing Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah here last night.

Timur Laut district police chief ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the 40-year-old woman died at the scene from severe injuries.

“Initial investigations found that at about 8.40pm, the SUV driver, a 57-year-old local man, was driving from his home in Sungai Dua towards the Penang International Airport.

“When he reached the location, the vehicle hit the victim and her daughter, who were crossing the road,” he said in a statement today.

He said the SUV driver was not injured, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — Bernama
