MOTAC Unveils Special Tourism Package To Honour Nurses In Sibu, Bintulu

SIBU, Aug 17 (Bernama) — The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) has unveiled a special tourism package for the Health Ministry’s (MOH) nurses serving in Sibu and Bintulu, as a gesture of appreciation for their contributions in the healthcare sector.

Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the package includes round-trip flight tickets from Sibu or Bintulu to Kuala Lumpur for just RM138 via Batik Air as well as discounts of up to 15 per cent for accommodation.

“Nurses can purchase flight tickets at that price using the promo code Malaysia 68.

“A total of 14 hotels in Peninsular Malaysia and Kuching are also offering discounts of up to 15 per cent for nurses who book accommodation packages using the MADANI Workers’ Card, while five hotels in Sibu are offering a 10 per cent discount,” he said at the Nurses’ Appreciation Dinner 2025 at a hotel here last night.

He said they can make bookings from Sept 1 to 30 at his service centre for a travel period from Sept 1 to Dec 31, 2025.

“Further details will be outlined,” he said, adding that discussions will be held at the ministerial level to expand the benefit to other MOH personnel, such as doctors and pharmacists in Sibu and Bintulu.

The Dudong assemblyman and Bintulu MP also expressed his appreciation to the nurses in Sibu and Bintulu for their dedication to delivering quality healthcare services to the people.

“Your hard work in ensuring public health is the foundation of tourists’ confidence to visit. Nurses and healthcare workers are the silent guardians of the nation’s tourism industry,” he added.

Also present at the event were Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Alice Lau Kiong Yieng, Sibu Division health officer Dr Teh Jo Hun, Sibu Division dental officer Dr Wong Siong Ting, Sibu Division pharmacist Alan Lau Puon Hiet, Bintulu Division health officer Dr Melvin Chung Hsien Liang, and Sibu Hospital director Dr Nanthakumar Thirunavukkarasu.
