The Ministry of Transport (MOT) has announced several measures to ensure smooth public travel and delegate movement during the upcoming 47th ASEAN Summit, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur from 26 to 28 October 2025. The adjustments include extended peak hours, increased train frequencies, and additional services across rail, bus, and on-demand transport networks in the Klang Valley.
Rapid KL will extend its peak operating hours on both aforementioned days to accommodate higher passenger volumes. Morning peak hours will now run from 6.30am to 10am, while evening peaks will last from 4.30pm to 8pm. Train frequencies will also be increased on selected lines, with the LRT Kelana Jaya Line operating every five minutes instead of seven, and the KL Monorail every eight minutes instead of 10. The LRT Ampang/Sri Petaling and both MRT lines will maintain their current frequencies, though MOT said extra monitoring will be in place for potential adjustments.
As for airport rail services, KLIA Ekspres will shorten its train intervals from 20 minutes to 15 minutes between 9am and 9pm, whereas KLIA Transit will introduce an extra 1am service from KLIA Terminal 2 to KL Sentral. Meanwhile, KTM Komuter services will continue operating as usual during the summit, with tickets available through the KTMB Integrated Ticketing System (KITS) website and app.
Certain Rapid KL bus routes will be affected by traffic diversions and road closures in central Kuala Lumpur during the summit. The impacted routes include 402 (LRT Titiwangsa–LRT Maluri), 302 (LRT Titiwangsa–KLCC), 300 (Pandan Indah Hub–Lebuh Ampang), and 303 (Taman Mulia Jaya–Lebuh Ampang), as well as the Rapid On-Demand service between the Titiwangsa and Chow Kit CBD zones. Commuters are advised to use trains where possible to avoid disruptions.
Additionally, MOT says Rapid KL will deploy 400 additional staff at key stations and intensify operational monitoring throughout the summit period. The ministry is urging commuters to plan their journeys ahead of time and rely more on rail services, especially when travelling to the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) area.
