SHAH ALAM: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (Maritime Malaysia) Selangor has detained a class A local fishing vessel operated by two foreign men in the waters of Kuala Langat near here.
Selangor Maritime director Capt Abdul Muhaimin Muhammad Salleh said the arrest was made by a patrol at about 7.30pm on Sunday (Dec 21).
“The vessel was detained 4.61 nautical miles (8.53km) south-west of Pantai Kelanang, Kuala Langat,” he said in a statement on Monday (Dec 22).
Capt Muhaimin said an inspection found that the boat was operated by a foreign skipper and crewmen, both aged 40.
They failed to produce valid identification documents and did not have a work permit or a letter of permission from the Fisheries director-general.
The two individuals, as well as the vessel, fishing equipment and catch, were taken to the Marine Police Jetty in Pulau Indah for further action.
Capt Muhaimin said the case was being investigated under the Fisheries Act 1985 and the Immigration Act 1959/63. – Bernama
