KUALA LUMPUR: Young rider Qabil Irfan Azlan continued his fine form in the Spanish Superbike Championship (ESBK) as he claimed his fifth victory this season in Estoril yesterday (Sept 13).
The 13-year-old took the chequered flag in race one by a country mile, finishing 14.176 seconds ahead of second placed Enzo Zaragoza. Andres Garcia (+14.371s) completed the podium.
Qabil, who also clocked the fastest lap of the race (1:48.127s), strengthened his lead atop the standings with 227 points.
Alessio Arnold is second on 181 points while Zaragoza is third (161 points).
Meanwhile, the more senior Hakim Danish Ramli found the going tough in the final round of the Red Bull Rookies Cup in Misano.
The 18-year-old, who had trailed championship leader Brian Uriarte by 26 points going into the round, settled for 10th in race one yesterday.
Uriarte won the race and wrapped up the championship on 216 points with one race remaining.
Race two of both the Red Bull Rookies Cup and ESBK will be held today (Sept 14).
