KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) airman who was reported missing since last month said he hid because he was afraid of facing his superior following a hit-and-run incident.
Serdang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the man, Senior Aircraftman Muhammad Ammar Mohd Ariffin was found by police at about 1pm in a condominium unit in Ampang Jaya, together with a woman believed to be his girlfriend.
“Our checks revealed he had been staying there since Aug 23.
“When questioned, he said he did not respond to his family and the RMAF because he was scared of confronting his superior, whom he had hit in the accident.
“This causes unnecessary trouble for all parties,” he said in response to media queries.
Muhamad Farid confirmed that the unit belonged to the woman who was with Ammar at the time of the discovery.
The man was previously reported missing by the RMAF after he failed to return to duty and did not contact his family.
