The housing and local government ministry has proposed a continuation of the home ownership campaign under the 2026 federal budget.
The ministry said the initiative, dubbed the Madani Home Ownership Campaign 3.0, was among 13 key proposals it had submitted to the Treasury for the annual budget, Bernama reported.
The campaign will see a package of tax and non-tax incentives offered to potential first-time home buyers in hopes of encouraging home ownership.
It is also aimed at boosting the economy, of which the property sector is seen as a key pillar.
The campaign was introduced in 2019, offering stamp duty waivers on loan agreements and instruments of transfer, a minimum 10% rebate and various freebies.
Developers Mah Sing Group Bhd and WCT Land Sdn Bhd had called for it to be continued and expanded under the 2026 budget as part of revitalising the property market.
