PETALING JAYA:

The education ministry has suspended four students and issued warning letters to 14 others following a school fight that went viral on social media.

Education minister Fadhlina Sidek visited the school this morning to obtain a full report on the incident, Berita Harian reported.

“We will not compromise on threats to safety at educational institutions, following the recent brawl at a school that went viral online.

“The ministry will ensure a safe ecosystem and the well-being of the entire school community,” she said.

Fadhlina said the students involved were dealt with according to the ministry’s disciplinary procedures, with the suspended students to participate in a community service programme organised by the district education office.

“Counselling sessions will also be held to help students change their behaviour through the inculcation of positive values,” she said.

The incident came to light after a social media influencer uploaded a video of a group of male students fighting, believed to be in a school toilet.
