KUALA LUMPUR: Hector Hevel’s withdrawal due to heel pain has left the national football team without one of their central midfield anchors.

Coach Peter Cklamovski is expected to call in Nathaniel Shio Hong Wan to fill Hevel’s role.

“Hong Wan’s mentality is strong and he’s got the attributes to be a good player. What’s important is not to put pressure on him, not from me, and not from himself.

“This is about using these eight days to keep growing, taking another step forward with the national team,” said Australian Cklamovski.

Malaysia will play international friendlies against Singapore (Sept 4) in Kuala Lumpur and Palestine (Sept 8) in Iskandar Puteri.

Cklamovski said he will only have a “complete team” on Wednesday when Rodrigo Halgado arrives, just a day before Malaysia play Singapore. Gabriel Palmero is scheduled to arrive tomorrow while the rest reported for national training from today.
