MG Cyberster now available for under RM300,000 in Malaysia

MG Cyberster now has a much lower starting price in Malaysia, thanks to the introduction of the rear-wheel drive (RWD) variant in our market. Aesthetically, the new variant is almost identical to its dual-motor, all-wheel drive (AWD) counterpart although the RWD offers more range since it runs only on a single motor.

Here’s how much the MG Cyberster costs in Malaysia now that the RWD variant has entered our market:

  • MG Cyberster RWD: RM299,900
  • MG Cyberster AWD: RM319,900

Do note that the pricing above does not include registration fees and insurance.

Regardless of the variant, the electric roadster can be obtained in Dynamic Red, Camden Grey, English White, and Inca Yellow exterior colours. The interior colour of the EV depends on the exterior colours, as the Black & Red interior is tied with Dynamic Red and Camden Grey while the Grey interior is available only with English White and Inca Yellow.

For customers who choose Camden Grey or English White, they can also opt for the Red soft top although this option would cost an additional RM2,000.

As for warranty, the MG Cyberster comes standard with a 7-year / 150,000km vehicle warranty. There is also a separate 8-year / 180,000km warranty for its high-voltage battery pack, while the car’s drive motor as well as motor control unit are also covered by an 8-year / 160,000km warranty.

MG Cyberster RWD vs AWD: What are the differences?

Instead of having two motors as per the AWD model, the MG Cyberster RWD only features a single 250kW (335hp) electric motor that also produces 475Nm of torque. As a result, the RWD variant has a slower 0-100km/h timing of 5 seconds as compared to the AWD variant’s timing of 3.2 seconds.

Being less powerful allows the Cyberster RWD to deliver slightly more range. If the AWD model can go up to 446km, the RWD variant can deliver up to 508km of WLTP-rated range.

The RWD model also comes with smaller 19-inch wheels that have a different design from the 20-inch wheels on the AWD variant. Aside from these changes, the rest of Cyberster RWD is pretty much identical to its AWD counterpart.

For example, the EV is still powered by a 77kWh NMC battery. The RWD also still has a 7kW single-phase AC onboard charger (OBC) module and supports a DC charging speed of up to 150kW.

The same goes for the perks that come with being a Cyberster owner, such as 1 year of unlimited charging with JomCharge, inclusive of access to the AutoCharge feature. Owner are also provided with a complimentary 7kW wallbox AC charger for their home.
