MetMalaysia issues strong wind, rough sea warning for Sabah, Labuan

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a strong wind and rough sea warning for several maritime areas, with the warning in effect from November 4 to November 7, 2025, due to the influence of Tropical Storm Kalmaegi.

Tropical Storm Kalmaegi is currently active in the Western Pacific Ocean and is expected to move westward across the Philippines towards the South Sea.

This development is anticipated to bring increased wind speeds across the region, particularly in the South Sea (SCS) and Sulu Sea (SS), during the forecast period.

At the same time, thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds over a prolonged period are expected, especially in Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan.

As a result, MetMalaysia has issued a Strong Wind and Rough Sea Warning for the waters off Sabah and Labuan, as well as the South Sea and Sulu Sea, effective from Nov 4 to Nov 7.

The public is advised to remain vigilant and to always refer to the official website at www.met.gov.my, MetMalaysia’s official social media channels, and to download the myCuaca application for the latest and verified information.

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when weather conditions pose a risk to safety, especially for maritime activities. These warnings are in place to ensure public awareness and readiness during periods of adverse weather.
