MetMalaysia: Heavy rain and strong winds expected in Klang Valley this morning

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several parts of the country, including the Klang Valley, until 12pm today.

The department said heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms are expected in Kuala Lumpur, and the entire state of this morning.

Other areas under the warning include parts of Perak such as Manjung, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak, as well as Bentong and Temerloh in Pahang.

Seremban and Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan, the entire state of Melaka, and several districts in Johor including Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat and Pontian are also forecast to experience severe weather.

MetMalaysia explained that the warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms producing rainfall exceeding 20mm per hour, which is either occurring or expected to last for more than an hour.

The short-term thunderstorm advisory, issued at 9.30am today, will remain in effect for up to six hours from the time of release.
