MELAKA: Police have confirmed receiving a report on an alleged abduction attempt involving a 12-year-old boy in Bukit Baru, here.
Melaka Tengah police chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, said the victim lodged the report on August 15, the day of the incident.
According to the victim, the incident occurred around 5pm while he was cycling back home from the grocery shop.
“Police are still investigating the claim. I ask the public to refrain from making any speculation.
“At the same time, the public should also look out for each other,” he said in a brief reply today.
Reports on social media claimed that the boy, a Year Six pupil, had evaded an abduction attempt by a masked man in a white van.
According to the claim, the boy managed to escape and immediately informed his parents before lodging a police report.
