MCMC Visits 359 Premises To Promote Device Certification, Labelling

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 14 (Bernama) —  The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has visited 359 communication device premises nationwide to inform owners and staff about the need for certification and MCMC labelling on communication devices.

In a statement today, MCMC announced that the visits were part of the Direct Engagement programme, which runs from June 2024 to November 2025.

“This initiative will help ensure that devices are safe, authentic, meet required standards, are compatible with networks, and do not interfere with frequencies,” said MCMC.

MCMC reported receiving positive feedback from traders, who expressed their support for the on-the-ground approach and committed to complying with the certification and labelling requirements for communication devices.

This effort reflects MCMC’s continued commitment to safeguarding user safety and maintaining the integrity of the national communications network by ensuring only compliant devices are sold in the market.

MCMC also reminded users to buy only devices that are certified and bear the MCMC label.

To check the certification status, users are encouraged to use the Check Your Label (CYL) app, available for download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

By entering the MCMC Label ID, IMEI number, or serial number, users can verify the device’s authenticity and ensure it complies with the required standards.

Selling or using devices without MCMC certification or labelling is an offence and may result in a fine of up to RM300,000, imprisonment for up to three years, or both.
