KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) says it is facilitating more than RM15 billion in financing and investment for the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
This comprises about RM10 billion in confirmed financing, along with an additional potential investment of up to RM5.35 billion over the next three to 10 years through client letters of intent (LOIs).
The investments target key sectors such as high-value manufacturing, digital economy, food security, healthcare and logistics.
The bank also announced RM120 million in financing for five Johor-based small and medium enterprises and mid-cap companies.
Letters of offer were extended to Cape EMS Bhd, Haily Construction Sdn Bhd, NES Packaging Sdn Bhd, MCH M&E Sdn Bhd and TSH Manufacturing Solution Sdn Bhd.
Maybank facilitated client LoIs totalling up to RM5.35 billion to the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), including a RM3 billion commitment from Singapore-based sustainable industrial real estate developer Equalbase.
Other LoIs, worth RM2.35 billion, came from Alpine Renewables and Edible Oils Pte Ltd, Centurion Corp Ltd and Thomson Medical Group Ltd, said Maybank in a statement in conjunction with the launch of its new service centre in Johor.
The launch of Maybank’s Forest City Service Centre, the bank’s 67th touchpoint in the state, was officiated by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and Maybank president and group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Khairussaleh Ramli.
The centre offers hybrid banking services, including digital self-service facilities, virtual meeting rooms, and advisory spaces for clients.
“Maybank is excited to support the development of JS-SEZ. Over the past two years, we have collaborated with government bodies, industry associations, and regulators in Malaysia and Singapore to drive investments, strengthen SME ecosystems and build resilient supply chains,” Khairussaleh said.
He added that the bank is also advising clients on setting up Single Family Offices and facilitating Halal certification for local businesses, contributing to the broader development of the Forest City Special Financial Zone and the JS-SEZ.
