MATTA Targets More Than RM250 Mln Sales At 57th MATTA Fair

, Aug 25 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) aims to achieve more than RM250 million in sales during the upcoming 57th National MATTA Fair, driven by the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) and a surge in intra-ASEAN travel demand.

MATTA president Nigel Wong said the figure has traditionally been the benchmark for each fair. Still, the September edition is expected to gain further momentum, boosted by the government’s push for the VM2026 campaign and strong regional interest.

“We are a little more optimistic this time because of the renewed enthusiasm for ASEAN travel and increased interest in domestic packages.

“Many exhibitors are also introducing new and creative products which we believe will drive spending, particularly in the local travel segment,” he told a press conference here today.

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) will return as the official Airline Partner and Premier Sponsor at the MATTA Fair, to be held Sept 5-7 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

MAG chief commercial officer of airlines, Dersenish Aresandiran, said the partnership would allow the airline group to strengthen its share of both outbound and inbound markets, while supporting the country’s broader tourism agenda.

“Outbound travel continues to show strong double-digit growth, and inbound demand is also rising.

“Through this fair, we are offering a wider variety of choices and packages, with Malaysia Airlines providing not only attractive fares but also added convenience such as 20kg baggage allowance even at the lowest tier,” he said.

With Malaysia chairing ASEAN this year, MAG is placing greater focus on regional destinations such as Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines, where demand has been particularly robust.

“We will share more exciting developments at our press conference on Sept 5. For now, I can say that we are committed to enhancing travel comfort, flexibility and value, while connecting people seamlessly across the region,” he said.

Dersenish said MAG will not only offer exclusive deals but also share its vision of the future — a digital, artificial intelligence-powered, premium airline experience.

“We look forward to welcoming visitors to MATTA Fair with our signature Malaysian Hospitality, while supporting VM2026 and inspiring people to explore, connect, and experience Malaysia,” he said.

He added that MAG’s booths will showcase a futuristic travel concept, reflecting its ambition to be among the world’s top 10 airlines by 2030.
