KUALA LUMPUR: Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd has launched its inaugural river conservation programme, Matrix Rivercare 2025, reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability education.

The initiative, held along the Langat River in Dengkil, sought to protect the river ecosystem, raise environmental awareness among young people and encourage community participation in conserving natural resources.

It was organised in collaboration with local government agencies, including the Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran Sepang, Majlis Perbandaran Sepang and Pejabat Tanah dan Daerah Sepang, together with event partner Upcycled by Fuze Ecoteer.

More than 100 volunteers participated in the clean-up including employees from various Matrix Group business units as well as representatives from the participating local authorities.

Property development division (central) co-chief executive officer Robert Tay said Matrix Rivercare 2025 is about strengthening collaboration between corporates, local authorities, and the community.

“We believe it is essential for corporations to take proactive steps in promoting environmental awareness and inspiring collective action.”

In total, the volunteers collected over 200 kilograms of waste including plastic, textiles, and metal materials. Participants also engaged in educational activities such as a waste audit to identify common pollutants and a “Plastic Upcycling” workshop that demonstrated innovative ways to repurpose plastic waste into practical products.
