GEORGE TOWN, Sept 18 — A car parked by the roadside was damaged after a fallen tree struck it in Jalan Concord 12, Tanjung Bungah, today.
Berita Harian reported that John Sagun Francis, Assistant Director of the Fire and Rescue Operations Division of the Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), said the department received the call at 4:09am.
He said the rescue operation involved six members from the Bagan Jermal Fire and Rescue Station, led by Mohd Rahmat Hussein.
“They found a fallen tree had crushed a Nissan Serena parked by the roadside. The rescue team used specialised equipment to cut and remove the tree and monitored the surroundings to ensure safety,” he added.
The operation also involved the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Tanjung Bungah Unit, led by Operations Officer Mohammad Lili Mat Ibrahim.
“The tree had a girth of 1.5 metres, and it took 45 minutes to cut and clear the site,” he said when contacted today.
