KUALA LUMPUR: Holiday traffic built up along the Kuala Lumpur–Karak Highway this morning as thousands of motorists began heading east for the Malaysia Day long weekend.
Avideo posted by Facebook user Mohd Zamri Dulah showed a motorcyclist carefully weaving through a heavy and prolonged traffic jam on the three-lane stretch.
“The current situation on the Karak Highway at 7.35am. Terrible traffic jam from before the Gombak Toll Plaza,” the caption read.
In July, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Sept 15 would be declared an additional public holiday in conjunction with the 2025 Malaysia Day celebration.
The extra holiday creates a four-day break, bridging the weekend of Sept 13 to 14 September with Malaysia Day on Sept 16.
