KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 (Bernama) — The Mary Kay Ash Foundation has awarded a US$500,000 grant to the Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation to accelerate a pioneering triple-negative breast cancer clinical trial and support early detection initiatives at the newly established Texas Cancer Interception Institute. (US$1=RM4.12)
The foundation said the grant includes US$100,000 to advance the TRIM-EBC clinical trial led by breast cancer researcher Dr Joyce O’Shaughnessy. The study examines the potential for weight-loss medications to reduce recurrence risks among overweight breast cancer patients.
The remaining portion is a multi-year contribution to the Texas Cancer Interception Institute, which focuses on detecting cancers at their earliest and most treatable stages. In a statement, Mary Kay said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to supporting transformative research that addresses cancers disproportionately affecting women.
