GEORGE TOWN: A 36-year-old man nearly drowned while swimming at Miami Beach this afternoon.
In the 4.15pm incident, lifeguards from Tower 1 responded swiftly to rescue the man, who was brought safely to shore.
The man, who suffered back pain after hitting rocks underwater, was later taken to Penang Hospital.
Many holidaymakers and locals took the opportunity to enjoy an outing with family and friends at various tourist hotspots in the state on Merdeka Day today.
