ALOR SETAR: A man who was arrested for allegedly beheading his brother-in-law in a paddy field in Kampung Pida 3 yesterday has been remanded for six days to assist in the investigation.

The remand order was obtained from Alor Setar magistrate Siti Masliza Md Ali, effective today until Nov 6.

Kubang Pasu district police chief, Superintendent Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahim, said the 38-year-old suspect was detained under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

He said an initial urine screening showed that the suspect was free from drug influence.

“The victim’s body is currently at the Forensic Department of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) in Alor Setar for a post-mortem examination,” he said when contacted today.

Earlier, it was reported that a man was killed after being attacked by his brother-in-law with a machete during a fight in a paddy field in Kampung Pida 3 last night.

Police also found multiple slash wounds on the victim’s body, while the severed head was discovered about one metre away.
