PETALING JAYA:

A man who managed to flee after a failed attempt to break into a house in Penang was caught after he went back to retrieve a personal belonging he had left behind.

Barat Daya police chief Sazalee Adam said the suspect entered the house in Batu Maung yesterday through the back door after the domestic worker went out to throw the trash.

“He fled when he realised that the house owner was around,” he said, according to Utusan Malaysia.

“However, he returned to the house later, probably to retrieve a personal belonging he had left behind in his rush to escape.

“When he returned, he was caught by the house owner and some of his friends.”

The suspect was handed over to the police and will be remanded tomorrow.

Sazalee said the suspect tested positive for drugs and has previous convictions for such offences.
