Police have arrested a senior citizen for allegedly verbally abusing and physically threatening a doctor at Ampang Hospital recently.
Ampang Jaya police chief Azam Ismail said the 30-year-old doctor filed a report against the suspect at around 1.15pm on Aug 12.
The doctor claimed that the suspect, 61, had lunged at him and tried to punch him in the face at the hospital’s emergency department.
“The complainant was said to be unhappy after missing his clinical appointment and being given a new appointment date,” Azam said in a statement.
The suspect was arrested by police the following day around 2.20pm. Checks found that he had a criminal record with three previous offences.
Azam said the man has since been released on police bail while the investigation paper will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor’s office this coming week.
The case is being investigated for criminal intimidation and use of insulting words to provoke a breach of peace under Section 506 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act.
