KOTA BARU: The General Operations Force Southeast Brigade seized 10.4 kg of cannabis buds worth RM374,400 in an operation in Rantau Panjang last night.
GOF Southeast Brigade commander Senior Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Radzi Hussain said a man was also arrested in the operation. He was detained for possession of the drugs.
Ahnad Radzi said the arrest was made under Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan following information received on drug-related activities.
“About 11pm, a Strike Force team from the Ninth Battalion conducted a brief surveillance along Jalan Lubok Setol in Rantau Panjang. They spotted a man behaving suspiciously while carrying a blue bag and stopped him for inspection.
“After conducting a body search on him, the GOF personnel did not find anything incriminating. However, a check of the bag led to the discovery of cannabis buds,” he said.
He said the 40-year-old suspect, who is from Selangor, tested positive for methamphetamine. Ahmad Radzi said the suspect and seized items were handed over to the Pasir Mas Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department for further action.
He added that the case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act for drug abuse.
