A post-mortem on a man found dead near the railway tracks at Sungai Serian in Kalumpang, Hulu Selangor, yesterday confirmed that he died from strangulation using a rope.
Hulu Selangor police chief Ibrahim Husin said the victim’s identity has yet to be determined, and the case is being investigated for murder.
“There were strangulation marks on the victim’s neck, believed to have been caused by a rope. The marks are suspected to match the rope (resembling a chain) worn around the victim’s neck,” he said in a statement today.
The body was discovered by a member of the public at about 10.30am yesterday, with his hands and feet bound, and his head wrapped in cloth and secured with black and white tape.
According to Ibrahim, a preliminary investigation suggested that the body was likely thrown off the Kampung Sungai Serian bridge, which is 11.15m high.
Checks also revealed that the victim had been dead for more than four days. No identification documents were found on him.
